After a devastating fire partially burned down the historic Notre-Dame Cathedral, Ubisoft has announced that for a limited time, it will be giving away PC copies of its French Revolution-set Assassin's Creed Unity for free for a limited time. Ubisoft is also donating to the restoration of the Notre-Dame.
In a blog post, Ubisoft said that it wants to give everyone "the chance to experience the majesty and beauty of Notre-Dame the best way we know how." Assassin's Creed Unity, which takes place during the French Revolution, includes a detailed recreation of the Notre-Dame de Paris.
In fact, the digital recreation efforts put forth by Ubisoft in recreating the Notre-Dame for Assassin's Creed Unity is so detailed that art historians have suggested the game could be used to help restore the real-life Notre-Dame when restoration efforts begin.
