1. Iberian Lottery
This week's big hit in 4Ancient: the Iberian Lottery!

We are introducing our new Iberian Lottery system!
Every Sunday at 18:00, ten lucky winners will be chosen to split 90% of the global investment pool.
Invest up to 30 gold and get a share of the pot - the more people invest, the higher the bank and the greater the earning.
You can take a chance and strike it rich with the Iberian Lottery! Good luck!

You can only invest with one account per pc per week. So choose wisely. You'll not be able to change the account until the next raffle.
As mentioned before. Out of the global investment, 90% are going to be raffled every Sunday at 18:00. There are always ten winners who share that pot in the following way:
  1. Place: 50%
  2. Place: 30%
  3. Place: 10%
  4. Place: 3%
  5. Place: 2%
  6. Place: 1%
  7. Place: 1%
  8. Place: 1%
  9. Place: 1%
  10. Place: 1%

2. Loyalty Rewards
Rack up the rewards and watch your streak soar! Loyalty pays off in 4Ancient!

Loyalty Rewards is a system that rewards players for continuing to play 4Ancient.
Players must play for 60 minutes or have at least 10 PvP wins daily to increase their streak.
Every fifth streak, a player receives a cheat day, loyalty treasure, and rewards for their tier.
Cheat days can be used to miss days without losing their streak.
Players must register their devices to ensure their playtime and PvP kills are counted.
Tier rewards range from 1MS 3BP 20Silver to 10MS 30BP 200Silver per day.
Be rewarded for your loyalty!

The maximum amount of cheat days that can be stored is 14 days.
You can buy additional cheat days for 30 moonstones per cheat day.
The frame is designed so that you receive explanations by hovering over certain elements.

You must register your device. Otherwise, your playtime and pvp kills are not counted. You can register your device only on one account,
and you can not change to what account the device is registered to for three days from the point of registration.
Unlimited devices can be registered on an account, but a device can always only be registered to one account.

3. Trade Embargo
Say goodbye to RWT bans - we've trade-embargoed the system!

We added a trade embargo system which should replace all RWT account bans.
That was asked for quite a while and had multiple times positive upvoting in our suggestions channel on discord.
Therefore we reconsidered and added the system.

A trade-banned account is banned from doing the following things:
  1. Trading
  2. Donating something to a guild (except experience)
  3. Sending post including items/gold
  4. Participating in the Iberian Lottery
  5. Betting gold in the tournament
  6. Using the guild storage
  7. Putting anything into the Auction House
  8. Placing a bid or buying something from the auction house
  9. Receiving post (even text letters)
  10. Changing the account email
Since most cases must be reviewed by hand, please allow us around two weeks before you flood us with tickets about your account not being transformed into a trade ban.

4. Champions of Glory
The time has come for warriors of the two kingdoms to fight for glory and prove their worth - Champions of Glory has arrived!
Behold - the original idea of 4Ancient, first announced in 2020, is finally here! Battle against the most formidable opponents and become crowned Champion of Glory.
No knockoffs or imitations here - only the real deal! Fight for glory and become the ultimate champion

When, where, and how can I join?
The mode runs twice daily at 16:35-17:35 and 20:55-21:55. Next to the map, swords with "CoG" written over them appear once the register phase starts (30 minutes before the warmup).
Clicking this button will open the team management frame, where you can invite up to two other players to your team. Now hit the queue button once you are ready, and once the mode starts,
you receive the right to enter the mode via a portal in the "Iberian Peacezone". If you join in the warmup phase, you receive 300 experiences for free. You can join alone, in a duo team, or as a triple team.
We recommend joining as a full 3people-team. The warmup phase is 5 minutes and can be used to position yourself. After that, the battle begins and lasts 55 minutes.
Monsters (more about them later) spawn when the battle begins. After the battle, you will be teleported back to your last spawn position, which will always be the "Iberian Peacezone".
While battling, you can still invite players (more about that later in the team management section)

Grouping, Team Management, Hot Join
As mentioned, you first come in touch with the team management frame in the register phase, where you can already queue in and form your team.
In it, you can invite players by name from your own nation and promote others to be the team lead, which is an important role (more about that later).

When queuing, you receive the right to join the mode via a portal in the "Iberian Peacezone" once the warmup phase begins. This also applies to people you invite later to your team (while warmup or battle).
This was an essential topic as to why this mode fits 4Ancient so well; since you can join whenever you feel like over an entire hour of gameplay, it somewhat keeps the feeling of being an OpenPVP mode which we, as an old-school server, want to preserve.
If the player you invite already was part of a team, all his historic negative points are being transferred to your team; you are being warned about that when inviting.
You can promote someone on your team at any point. To do so, you can use the right-click menu or the team management frame, which you can open from the Battle UI.

Inventory, Equipment, Items, and Requirements
You have to be at least level 80 to participate. When you join, all your items are set to +20. If one of your equip slots is empty, it will be replaced with a level 34 Non-pvp item without any options. So make sure you have the proper gear
Your inventory will be wiped, and all you will have is one 16-slot bag with items you loot from monsters' are placed in (more about that in the monster section).
When upgrading your weapon, all of your weapons are upgraded by +1, giving you a total of 4 available weapon upgrades.
When upgrading your gear, a random piece is selected and upgraded by +1, giving you 24 possible upgrades (helmet - cloak).
You can upgrade your weapons and gear for experience (more about that later).
You can trade with teammates, but only potions can be traded!
Items farmed in the mode are NOT kept after the mode.

Monster - Experience, Tiers, Loot
All around the map are groups of monsters spawned. The monsters have markers on the world map and the minimap and next to their name.
They are categorized into three tiers (BLUE, PINK, RED), and the markers are colored and represent their tier.
Loot is ALWAYS equally shared between teammates IN sight.

(CASUAL - BLUE)
Group: 1Big, 2Small
Drops: 5 Mana and 5 Health potions, 10 Speed potions, 50% chance for 1-4 Invi Potions
Stats: 8.000HP and 200fixed damage
Respawn: 2 Minutes
Experience: 60 per

(CHIEF - PINK)
Group: 1Big, 3Small
Drops: 25 Mana and 25 Health potions, 10 Speed Potions, 5 Invi Potions, 5PHY, and MAGIC defense potion, 15% chance for 30-minute reckless potion
Stats: 20.000HP and 500fixed damage
Respawn: 8 Minutes
Experience: 120 per

(BOSS - RED)
Group: 1Huge
Drops: 50 Health and 50 Mana potions, 25 Speed Potions, 10 Invi Potions, 10PHY and MAGIC defense potion, 1x 30-minute reckless potion
Stats: 100.000HP and 1.000fixed damage, has mass fear (like the TW bosses)
Respawn: 15 Minutes
Experience: 1.500

Experience - Gain and Purpose and Buffs
You receive 300 experience for joining in the warmup phase and 25experience every 30 seconds while the battle is raging.
Additionally, you receive experience from monsters you kill and for player kills.
You can lose experience from dying to players.

Experience gained from monsters and players is shared in the following way:
  • Solo Team: 75% experience for the lead
  • Duo Team: 60% experience for the lead, 40% for the teammate
  • Full Team: 40% for the lead, 30% for each match mate
You receive the following amount of experience from those listed actions:
  • Blue Monster: 60 Experience
  • Pink Monster: 120 Experience
  • Red Monster: 1.500 Experience
  • Killing an enemy player: 80 Experience
  • Killing an enemy team lead: 100 Experience
  • Playing 30 seconds: 25 Experience
  • Joining in the Warmup Phase: 300 Experience
You lose the following amount of experience from those listed actions:
  • Dying to a player: 60 Experience (not shared)
  • A team player dies: 20 Experience (everyone in the team equal amount)
You can use Experience for the following actions:
  • Upgrading your weapon: 1.500 Experience (per - totaling 6.000 Experience)
  • Upgrading your gear: 250 Experience (per - totaling 6.000 Experience)
  • 5Minute Armour Buff: 75 Experience
  • 5Minute Health Buff: 50 Experience
  • 3Minute Damage Buff: 100 Experience
  • 1Minute Eye: 150 Experience
If you leave your team or match, you lose all the experience you collected! Logging out is not meant only leaving the match by leaving the group.
If you hot-join (enter the mode while the battle is raging), you receive an average * 0.75% of all collected experience to keep up with the players rising gear.

Points - Battle and Ranking
You need to have the highest points to "win" the mode. You can collect and lose points in several ways.
The top seven players and the top 3 teams receive rewards. If you leave the mode, you will only receive the solo rewards.
Your Team and You can have negative points.

Actions giving points:
  • Killing an enemy player: 3 Points
  • Killing an enemy leader: 5 Points
Actions removing points:
  • Dying to an enemy: -1 Point
  • Dying to an enemy and you're the team lead: -2 Points
When you leave the battle, your historic negative points (and only them, no positive ones) are saved, and when you join another team, their team loses that exact amount of points.
When someone tries to invite you, he will see your historic negative points and decide if it is worth it.

The ranking in the mode can be opened from the battle UI (which, by the way, can be minimized).
In the ranking, you can sort by rank, name, kills, deaths, and points by clicking on the corresponding field in the header.
Green means it is sorting descending (highest first), and red means it is sorting ascending.
You can switch between ascending and descending by clicking on it.
The ranking is constantly updated live when subscribed (opened).
Default sorting is descending and ranking. (rank field shows the colors for if ascending or descending and vice versa since best starts.

Rewards - (needs a rework)
This part truly needs a rework, and we know that; if you have ideas, please let us know!
To Swiper: Please don't include them in the video :/

Solo:
  1. 700AP and 700Honour
  2. 600AP and 600Honour
  3. 500AP and 500 Honour
  4. to seven - Treasures for every 5 points you make (capped to 20 boxes)
Team:
  1. Shadow Mount (1 Day) 800AP and 800Honour
  2. 800AP and 800Honour
  3. 700AP and 700Honour
Respawning and Spawn
The first map ("Ancient Dragonrod") has 30 available spawns. The team spawn is randomly selected when it gets created and can not be changed.
When you die, a modal frame pops up in which you can select your revival location (At your corpse, at a team member, at the team spawn).
After 15 seconds, you revive at your selected location.
New maps might have a different amount of available spawn locations.

Remarks
The mode was initially planned to come with Patch 1.9 but then was scraped all along due to discrepancies in the team about how and if it fits with the 4Ancient concept.
In late 2022 we reconsidered the concept, and because of the great voicing of the community, we decided to give it another shot. Five months later, the concept is done, and the mode is published in its first iteration.
Please remark that we are still working on minor things like the amount of experience, costs, and the loot of monsters. The hot-join is not available in the current patch but is being worked on and published within the next two weeks.
On the test server, you can already enjoy the hot-join variant of the mode. It is working but not yet perfected in concept. Therefore allow us another week or two to bring it to the live server.
There are two more maps for this mode in work already (Blonea and Horusland-styled ones). At the moment, Ancient Dragonrod is the only map.
The system already works with multiple maps, but spawn locations and monster locations and their themes must match the map, which takes time to make proper.
A global ranking and custom titles are currently conceptualized and are about to come if you have ideas to improve the mode or feedback. Please let us know. We are very open to any input.

Video announcement of CoG (previously CoD).
Here you can spot what we all changed in the concept of the mode to make it as good as possible and why we finally considered publishing it

5. V-Sync / (Nvidia) G-Sync / AMD FreeSync
Enable V-Sync for a tear-free gaming experience - 4Ancient approved!

You can now enable V-Sync in the graphic settings of the game. Ensure the global cache is enabled in your graphic drivers (default usually enabled).
V-Sync limits the frames per second to the refresh rate of your monitor to reduce or eliminate screen tearing (depending on your hardware configuration.).
If you own a G-Sync/FreeSync capable video card and monitor, those features are getting appropriately addressed, and screen tearing will be eliminated.
G-Sync/FreeSync only works under DirectX11. If your hardware doesn't match, it still should achieve a better result in terms of screen tearing.
If you use DirectX9, this system acts more like an fps lock and might not have the expected result of eliminating or reducing screen tears.
But it might save power as it will not refresh frames when your monitor can not display that refresh rate.
This feature is only on 4Ancient adequately implemented as of now.

6. OTP/2FA Authentication
Secure your account with OTP - save the recovery codes for peace of mind!

This system, if enabled, replaces the PC-Verification (via mail) system. You can use any ". One-time Password/Token" generator of your liking. We recommend using the "Google Authenticator".
Multiple devices can be added and named, making it friendly with shared accounts. When adding a device to the account (via the website), it must be verified via mail.
The first device added is automatically set to administrator and can remove/rename other devices or elevate them to the administrator of the account as well.
Not only is using this method to protect your account much safer, but also more convenient. Please be cautious about who you give administrator rights since they can remove your access to the account!
Log in and navigate to the user panel to register a device on the website. You can scan a QR code (or use the code to enter it manually) and add the device to your otp-generator (like google authenticator).
When registering, please download the recovery codes and save them somewhere safe. If you lose your otp-generating device, you can use these to reset the system and add a new device or disable the system.
If you lose the recovery codes, we can only manually remove the otp-system if you have payments in the past, which you can use to show you are the account owner. Exclusive access to the mail of the account is not enough.
So please ensure you save the recovery codes, maybe even write them down somewhere on paper, since hard drives can always fail.

After the first time using the device when logging in, it will set that as your default for your computer-id. You can still use the popup (see screenshot) to change the device.
The usage of the code is cached for 5 minutes; you will not have to re-enter the code on a re-log unless you are changing accounts.

The game fully implements the system and will be unlocked on the website within the next ten days.
We recommend using this system.

7. Coomer's Ravine (New Dungeon)
Unlock the gates to Coomer's Ravine and take on the ultimate challenge of skill, wit, and speed - if you dare!

Adventurers, get ready for the first of its kind! 4Ancient recently added a brand new dungeon called Coomer's Ravine to its world - and it's guaranteed to be an exhilarating experience.
This dungeon is the perfect challenge for the brave of heart and mind, as it combines incredible graphics, intense boss fights, and timed quests in an unforgettable way.

As you journey through Coomer's Ravine, you'll travel through regions such as the Soul of Cinder, the Rising Sea, the Demonic Grounds, and the Ancient Volcano - and battle bosses such as Berfomet,
Lamia Knight Stella, Ancient Magma Coloss, Volcanic Spider Queen Ranni, and more. You'll also face off against custom monsters never before seen in 4Ancient, as well as jump and runs and rising lava seas.

But that's not all - Coomer's Ravine also includes several surprises, such as the Poisonous Hole and the Throne of the Banished One. You'll have to work hard and fast to survive the dungeon -
and its pun-filled, internet-meme-inspired namesake. Moreover, the dungeon is so massive that even the fastest tester could only finish it in 40 minutes!
So, what are you waiting for? Gather your allies and venture into Coomer's Ravine, where the rewards are great, but the challenge is even more significant. 4Ancient's first dungeon of its kind awaits!

The key to the dungeon can be crafted at the NPC "Demy" in Mirhur ("Hideout of the Wise") near the Shop NPC "Ropedi".
The following ingredients are needed to craft the key:
  • 3 Osiris gemstones
  • 3 documents of antiquity
  • 15 gleaming red herbs
  • 15 gleaming blue herbs
  • 15 gleaming green herbs
  • 3 magical herbs
Once you obtain a key, you find the entrance portal behind the now-opened gates in "Mirhur - Holy Land of the Prosperous Blessing" (AkA 4Ancient- Doc80 Zone).

We won't tell you more about the dungeon - the best way to experience it is to explore it yourself.
You might want to check out our guide showcasing the quests and our epic trailer to get started. Good luck!

8. Loot Notification
Never miss the vital loot anymore in hundreds of info messages!

Added loot notifications in the middle of the screen which are visible for 1,5 seconds, slowly fading out - visually appealing.
Up to 5 items can be shown in it. The most recent one is always on top, drawing the most attention.
It is compatible with CoG loot and auto loot.

It is on by default but can be disabled in the settings. ("Settings => User Interface => Show loot notifications")

9. Additional HotBar Menu
A collection of additional frames can now be opened from a drop-up in the hot bar (below the skill bar).
This becomes of additional importance with the upcoming planned additions. It serves as a place to open the Farm Ranking, Loyalty Rewards, and the Iberian Lottery.

Changes
Display Spoiler

1. Battle of Glory
Welcome to 4Ancient: where the battle gets real, and the jokes get even better!!

New maps
Three new battle maps were added, all for a player count of 40+. Upgrading our total map count to 8 maps. (1 Small - 2 Medium - 5 Big, more in work).
  • Salreon's Legacy - a map with two chokepoints based on objects of blonea. A stunning map to slaughter yourself to glory
  • Hod's Marshland - an open map with open spawns and a tremendous amount of space, based on (as the name suggests) hod
  • The Icy Gorge - A genuinely stunning map based on highlands, it is longer than wide and perfect for huge matches.

Spawn Protections
All maps now have spawn protections; the amount is based on the size of the map. They are dealing 1.000 fixed damage per hit and can hit multiple targets simultaneously. They are hitting invisible targets as well.
This considerably small feature is changing the mode by a lot, giving it a lot more dynamic ways to play. And depending on the map, those protections can be used differently in strategic ways.

Battle UI
The floating Battle dialog has been reworked, now showing six players. A background was added to make it visually more appealing, and a button for the new ranking was added.
It is now more performant and slick and shows the number of players online in each team. It now hosts the buttons and infos about the surrender system as well.

Surrender System
A system to surrender has been added. In addition, to spawn protections and the strike system, this should make this mode the perfect PvP experience.
The window to vote for surrender is 2,5 Minutes after the battle ends until 1,5 minutes before the end of the battle.
Once above 60% of the players vote to give up, a ticker begins; your teammates and the enemy team see this.
The mode ends if the votes above 60% stay for at least 30 seconds.

The surrendering team is not receiving any rewards, and the other team is declared the winner even if they have fewer points.
You can change your vote only every 5 seconds.

Strike System
If a participant is not playing at least 60% (10,5minutes) of the battle time (warmup excluded), he receives a strike. A strike is removed 14 days after receiving it.
The first strike is a warning, the second is a 1-day register ban, the third is a 3-day register ban, and the fourth is a 5-day register ban. Every additional strike above 5 gives you another 7-day register ban.

Ranking
We've added a new feature to the BoG Floating Battle Dialog - a ranking system!
You can now see where you stand in the team and player rankings. In the team tab, you'll find only players from your team,
as well as your kills in percentage based on the entire kill count of your team. In the player tab, you'll find all players from both teams.
Players from the other team are highlighted differently, so you can quickly identify them.

The ranking is updated live while opened and continuously auto scrolls to your position. You can also sort by rank/name/kills/deaths/extra (point share or K/D ratio) ascending and descending.

The global ranking is still in the concept phase. We will not add it to the Hall of Glory until we're not happy with what it should be based on to be fair for everyone and what the rewards will be.

Other changes
  • PvP Records of Kills and Deaths were removed; also, recent battles are not shown anymore. You still receive and lose honor/bp tho, and you receive points even for someone that was killed recently three times in a row.
  • Worn Items below +21 are set to +21 now
  • Prepare Time changed from 5 minutes to 2,5Minutes
  • Battle Time changed from 15 minutes to 17,5Minutes

So what are you waiting for? Get out there and show everyone who's the best by climbing to the top of the rankings! Slaughter your opponents and prove your worth!

2. Pets
Both the Mount and Companion frame were merged into a single frame which can be opened with P(can be changed in the keybindings).
Using the old key-bind (Ctrl+P) will open the frame and autoselect the spawned companion. If you open it with P and have a mount spawned, it will auto-select that one.

This frame is the precursor to a rework of the entire system in which you can level your companions. Mounts and companions will have some attributes and functions, but nothing that will help in PVP.
The majority of all companions are going to receive several idle animations.

You can now delete mounts even when the time did not run out. The prices for adding/changing effects, renaming, and deleting effects were streamlined and are the same for mounts and companions.
  • Adding effect: 140 Moonstones
  • Changing effect: 60 Moonstones
  • Changing the name: 240 Moonstones

3. Preview Window
Since some of us would like to know how something looks alike before buying it!

You can now preview effects. They can be selected via the left and right arrows or the dropdown menu.
A Reset Button in the left corner was added to reset to the original zoom, orientation, and effect.
Double left mouse button click now resets to the original zoom and orientation (the selected effect stays).
The "Hide Equip" checkbox (if previewing an item) is now in the right corner.

4. Priest Aggression
The citizens of Valorian and Derion were shocked when they heard that Keter and Markut were up for grabs - and now it's invasion season!

When a priest is healing or supporting a player in an aggressive stance, he also receives the aggressive stance, making him now attackable.
No more immortals, making city invasions fun.

5. Duels
Attacking someone not your duel target ends the duel as lost for the attacker.

6. Merc Invites
Instead of a popup window, you now receive an info message when someone declines/accepts your mercenary invites.
This was a nightmare for guild administrators of big guilds and is now fixed.

7. (New) Attachment System
All the attachment buttons (next to the minimap) (BoG - CoG - Loyalty Rewards - Territory War - (More coming )) now have their unique symbol + are stackable.
First, it goes four up (newest one lowest), then it starts left row, etc.

8. Autoloot
Quest Items and Event drops are always picked up - no matter the configuration.

9. Cash Deposit
The cash cabinet size was lowered from 50 slots to 20, giving the cash cabinet extensions more meaning.
A rework of their prices and ways to obtain them are planned; they should be more attractive as an item on the market.
Those items being worthless is a big waste. Besides a rework of their prices in the cash shop, we are also rethinking the ways to obtain them in modes and dungeons.

  1. This patch reworked over 90thousand lines of code, modernizing, improving, and revising old code. This does not only improve the performance but also will make future patches much faster to come.
  2. We're the first server where the frames per second displayed are indeed rendered, giving you much smoother gameplay. Animations will look more realistic, and you will see a significant difference on higher refresh monitors. You can find this only on 4Ancient as of now. And for video creators, we now recommend slow-mos since animations are looking better than ever before
  3. Improved Frame times (FPS) by another 30-100%, depending on the situation and hardware
  4. Linking items with "level revision" will now link the item with the original level.
  5. A restore is attended if the GPU device crashes due to GPU driver issues.
  6. Improved the loading time of maps when crossing the map borders
  7. On banned login now tells if it's because of an account or pc ban. If the device and account are banned, it will prioritize the device ban message
  8. It is less likely to be logged out in case an exit to character selection takes longer
  9. If the game servers are unavailable, it'll now tell so instead of giving a system error

We come to you today with a heavy heart and an apology.

The team behind 4Ancient, which used to be the most visited server (of all time) in this scene, has been unable to bring a patch for almost a year now, and the reasons are vast. We have had our ups and downs over the more than four years of our existence, and 2022 was a particularly rough year.
One of the individuals that had been with us for many years, and was a big part of 4Ancient, had to withdraw from his position due to circumstances that were out of our control. We will always keep Jirkus in our hearts and thank him for his hard work and dedication for 4Ancient.

On a personal level, this past year has been challenging for me as well. A lot in my life changed drastically, and I hope this patch can be a small compensation for that time as it is a genuine attempt to make up for the time we missed. I have been carrying this project in my heart for years, and seeing it in such a state has been heartbreaking.

This patch we released on Monday the 20th results from months of hard work and dedication. We have reworked over 90,000 lines of code to improve our game and open a new chapter for 4Ancient. With the newly added features like the Iberian Lottery, Loyalty Rewards, the changes to BoG and OTP, Trade Embargo, and the addition of the Dungeon and Champions of Glory, we are just at the beginning of what is to come.

Matchmaking (or Playground by some) is almost done, and a rework for the world boss, spooky, doc rotation, and many more things are in the works. We are also planning a complete overhaul of the loot table – monster loot, all boxes, and rewards for tw, bog, cog, etc.

We want to thank all the testers of this patch who have been helping us bring it out in our set timeframe. Without them, it would have been impossible.
Moreover, special thanks to Swiper, one of our community managers, for his hard work on the dungeon, the maps, and all the things that have been done in the background. We are officially appointing him the role of a Game Administrator.

We would also like to thank all of you who have stuck with us through these challenging times, you have been the backbone of everything, and we are so grateful for that. We love our community, our team, and everything surrounding 4Ancient, and we apologize for not being able to give you the experience you deserve. Now a new chapter is beginning, and we are excited to find our way back slowly.

We apologize again for the delay and thank you for your continued support. Let's see what the future holds for 4Ancient!

Sincerely,
AncientCompiler
